Simla famous places

Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, in the Himalayan foothills. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. It’s also known for the handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specializing in wooden toys and crafts.

Rashtrapati Niwas

The Rashtrapati Niwas, also known as Viceregal Lodge, is located on the Observatory Hills of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. It was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy of India. It houses some of the most ancient articles and photographs going back to the times of the British rule in India. The Viceregal Lodge was designed by British architect Henry Irwin and built in the Jacobethan style during Lord Dufferin’s tenure as Viceroy. Its construction started in 1880 and was completed in 1888. Lord Dufferin occupied the lodge on 23 July 1888.

Its current incumbent is The Rev. Sohan Lal, whose ecclesiastical designation is presbyter-in-charge. Worship is conducted in Hindi and English.

Chadwick falls

We explored Chadwick falls too after asking a lot of people on the way for directions. Most of the waterfall was frozen though and even the water at the base was a sheet of ice. It was a lovely 10-minute walk through the serene forest to get to the waterfall. The falls are not a favourite tourist stop, but this is recommended if you want to enjoy a peaceful walk through the woods.

Amer Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer is a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi) located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Located high on a hill, it is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur. The town of Amer was originally built by Meenas, and later it was ruled by Raja Man Singh I. Amer Fort is known for its artistic style elements. With its large ramparts and series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake, which is the main source of water for the Amer Palace. Mughal architecture greatly influenced the architectural style of several buildings of the fort. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, the attractive, opulent palace is laid out on four levels, each with a courtyard. It consists of the Diwan-e-Aam, or "Hall of Public Audience", the Diwan-e-Khas, or "Hall of Private Audience", the Sheesh Mahal, mirror palace, or Jai Mandir, and the Sukh Niwas where a cool climate is artificially created by winds that blow over a water cascade within the palace. If Cold desserts, clear turquoise blue water lakes & rivers, epic landscapes and far off monasteries are your thing, then Spiti lies much ahead in the race than Ladakh!! Spiti is rightly called a travelers muse. Be careful though- the colossal sky, vast mountains, and glittering stars might have such a long-lasting effect on your heart that you might never want to leave this heaven!

Drive through one of the most beautiful picture-perfect roads in the world while halting along in dreamy mountain villages. This Spiti Valley road trip from Shimla goes through Kalpa of the Kinnaur Valley and finally enters Spiti through the village of Nako. Explore ancient thousand-year-old monasteries, trek to hidden lakes, ride a Yak, live in authentic homestays and spend time in some of the highest villages in Asia.

Dubbed as The world's most adventurous road, the Hindustan-Tibet highway is a visual masterpiece. Don't let that misnomer frighten you because, despite its hairpin curves and steep drops, this road has been safely ferrying travelers since the 1850s.

We can go on and on raving about this "Traveler's  mecca and a virgin paradise", but we'd rather leave it up to you; to come explore this mystic land with us and go back with a thousand reasons as to why going to this week-long exploration into the unknown could be a life-changing trip for you!

It is accessible only for 4 months in a year from June to September and rest of the time it is full of snow.

The weather at Hemkund Sahib changes very rapidly. Mana Village: Mana is the last village before the Mana Pass, 24 km from Tibet border. During winter the entire village is covered with snow. There is a small cave in Mana, named Vyas Gufa and it is believed that Maharshi Vyas composed Mahabharata in this cave. Other nearby places include Ganesh Gufa Vasudhara Falls, Satopanth Lake, Bhim Pul, etc. Mana village holds a lot of mythological relevance and we can actually see traces of the Mahabharata scattered across this small village. The houses here are small with a kitchen garden in the backyard, where the locals grow their own vegetables like spinach, cauliflower and potato, and sell these to small hotels in Badrinath.

Explore Spiti like a local Trek and Trails

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India.[1]

Local population follow Vajrayana Buddhism similar to that found in the nearby Tibet and Ladakh regions. The valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation. Along the northern route from Manali, Himachal Pradesh or Keylong via the Rohtang Pass or Kunzum Pass respectively, the valley lies in the North Eastern section of the Indian state Himachal Pradesh, and forms part of the Lahaul and Spiti district. The sub-divisional headquarters (capital) is Kaza, Himachal Pradesh[2] which is situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of about 12,500 feet (3,800 m) above mean sea level.

Day One - Reach Manali and relax

Reach Manali in the morning from Delhi/Chandigarh after an overnight journey and check-in to the hotel. You will be free to do whatever you want on this day, but the most important thing is to relax and acclimatize and not overexert. Once everyone has arrived by afternoon, we will hold a small briefing session along with the guide. This will also be a good time for you to get acquainted with the rest of the group. We suggest you call it an early night as your body needs proper rest for the long journey ahead. We will be leaving very early the next day; adequate rest will help you in acclimatizing.

Day Two - Manali to Kaza via Rohtang and Kunzum Pass

Today we head to Spiti valley which will take around 10 hours for 220 km if everything goes as planned. We leave early in the morning about 5 am as we have a long way to go and ascend the mighty Rohtang Pass. From Gramphoo you will start noticing a change in terrain with fewer trees and more steep mountain peaks and the start of a barren landscape.

From here we head towards Chatru and cross some of the biggest waterfalls which can be a nightmare for a non-experienced driver, but luckily you’ll be in very experienced hands. The terrain will change drastically from Chatru, and all you will see is rocks all over with huge streams overflowing on the road and converging in the cold Chandra river.

We will take a lunch break at Batal at the famous Chandra Dhaba. We head to Kunzum Pass, and at Kunzum top, we will stop for you to pay our respects to the Kunzum Goddess as you enter Spiti valley. The jumpy ride on non-existent roads which started from Gramphoo will end in Lohsar. From Lohsar we head to Kaza, it will take another 2 hours to reach from here. Once you reach Kaza and meet your homestay host, you can relax and enjoy a cup of tea with them. We shall have a small briefing session over dinner.

Day Three - Kaza to Key Monastery, Kibber Village, and back

Start the day easy over an excellent homemade local breakfast. Visit the local market in Kaza if you’d like. We will head out to spend our afternoon next to the river where we shall serve you lunch made in the homestay, picnic style and you can spend time relaxing and soaking in the Spitian sun. After lunch, we shall head to Kye monastery, the center of learning in Spiti valley. The monastery is set on a small hill from where you get a complete view of the valley.

Have a cup of tea at the monastery, and spend some time with the monks. Next, we shall head to Kibber village, which used to be the highest motorable village in the world. The mountains around Khibber are home to the rare Snow Leopard and Siberian Ibex. A little ahead of Kibber is the famous Chicham bridge, said to be the Asia's highest bridge above sea level at 4037 meters 13,244 feet. It’s one of the most spectacular bridges in the world. We head back to Kaza after your visit to Chicham, where we will have a small talk on Buddhism conducted by one of the monks at the monastery.

Day 4 - Kaza to Dhankar Village via Tabo Village

After relaxed breakfast in the morning, we will head to 1000 years old Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO heritage site, also known as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas.” Paintings and murals on the walls of the main sanctum make it a masterpiece and worth visiting. You can visit the nearby meditation caves that the monks have been using for centuries. This is an optional hike for those interested. We shall then have lunch at a local homestay where we will take you through the different types of Spitian food.

After lunch, we will head to Dhankar where you will visit the Monastery, and for those up to it, hike to the nearby Lake which is a steep 45 min walk one way. Dhankar monastery claimed to be 1000 years old, is on the cliff of a mountain overlooking the confluence of Pin and Spiti rivers. Spend some time at the lake if you end up doing the hike and head to your homestay in Dhankar. You can spend the evening with your host family, helping them in the kitchen to prepare the evening’s meal.

Day Five - Dhankar Village to Langza via Demul, Komic, and Hikkim

Today will be an exciting day, as you will be visiting a couple of villages, learning a bit about life at a high altitude. We head out to Demul in the morning after breakfast, where you will be able to meet and interact with the locals. From Demul we will lead to Komic, which is one of the highest motorable villages in the world. Komic has a beautiful monastery for you to explore. You can sit near the monastery and enjoy the spectacular view of snowcapped peaks around over a cup of tea and chat with the monks.

The monastery in Komic is functional in winters when temperatures dip down to -30 degrees and roads get blocked. It will be fascinating to understand the life and survival of such happy souls at this altitude. The next stop is Hikkim which has the world’s highest post office. Not to forget your loved ones, you can send out postcards from the post office. You will be amazed at the quantum of postcards. Leaving the post office daily and will love meeting the postmaster who is a unique personality.

Our last stop for the day Langza is also famous for its fossils. In the evening, you can go on a small fossil excursion around the village. Millions of years ago, Spiti lay submerged under the Tethys sea. Fossils of sea life can easily be found scattered close to the town. Once you have seen your fossil, we urge you to leave it behind in the village where it belongs to disturb the ecology of the area as little as possible. At the end of your day, you will learn a little about how local cheese, liquor, and yak rope are made.

Day Six - Langza to Chandrataal Lake via Lohsar and Kunzum Pass

After breakfast with your host family, we head towards Chandrataal Lake early in the morning. This is one location where you will find difficult to stop clicking photographs. The lake is a landscape photographer’s dream come true, changing its appearance almost with every passing hour, each shot as stunning as the last one. Tonight we camp in style; great dome tents set up to protect you from the cold and biting night winds. If you are lucky and the communal fireplace is burning, you can warm up and meet other travelers over dinner.

Day Seven - Chandrataal Lake to Manali via Kunzum and Rohtang pass

We leave early this morning to Manali after an early breakfast. We will take a small break at Batal to say goodbye to Chacha and Chachi at Chandra Dhaba. The aim is to try and reach Rohtang pass by early afternoon and spend some time at the pass. Head to Manali and relax. We will have a small get together in the evening over dinner. Stay in Manali for the night.

Day Eight - Departure

The trip ends this afternoon as you head back to take your bus back to Delhi or respective places.

Pink city Jaipur Tours

Jaipur is the capital of India’s Rajasthan state. It evokes the royal family that once ruled the region and that, in 1727, founded what is now called the Old City, or “Pink City” for its trademark building color. At the center of its stately street grid (notable in India) stands the opulent, colonnaded City Palace complex. With gardens, courtyards and museums, part of it is still a royal residence.

Known as the Pink City because of the colour of the stone used exclusively in the walled city, Jaipur’s bazaars sell embroidered leather shoes, blue pottery, tie and dye scarves and other exotic wares. Western Rajasthan itself forms a convenient circuit, in the heart of the Thar desert which has shaped its history, lifestyles and architecture.

The city’s colourful, chaotic streets ebb and flow with a heady brew of old and new. Careering buses dodge dawdling camels, leisurely cycle-rickshaws frustrate swarms of motorbikes, and everywhere buzzing autorickshaws watch for easy prey. In the midst of this mayhem, the splendours of Jaipur’s majestic past are islands of relative calm evoking a different pace and another world.

At the city’s heart, the City Palace continues to house the former royal family; the Jantar Mantar, the royal observatory, maintains a heavenly aspect; and the honeycomb Hawa Mahal gazes on the bazaar below. And just out of sight, in the arid hill country surrounding the city, is the fairy-tale grandeur of Amber Fort, Jaipur’s star attraction.

Manali Leh Ladhak Srinagar

LADAKH is sometimes called 'Little Tibet'. It has a similar landscape and culture that bears this comparison. The Ladakh range starts from the Indus-Shyok confluence and the Zanskar range is the dividing line between the Indus and Zanskar valleys. The Great Himalayan range in its S demarcates

Two main districts comprise Ladakh: Leh and Kargil. Leh can be subdivided into Indus Valley, Nubra Valley, Shyok Valley and Markha Valley. The main rivers are Indus, Zanskar, and Shyok; like the mountain ranges, these rivers run roughly east to West. Today Ladakh is open to outsiders, or at least as open as its geography permits.

  1. No special permission is needed to enter Ladakh and within the region, you can travel around with relative freedom. Ladakh is full of amazing sights- strange gompas perched on soaring hilltops, dwarfed by snowcapped mountain.
  2. The barren, shattered looking landscapes splashed with small but brilliant patches of green; ancient palaces clinging to sheer rock walls. But most of all it is notable for its delightful people- friendly as only Tibetans can be immensely colorful. It's an amazing place.
Girls trip to leh

(We can guide you with travel assistance to Delhi and back) From here, we board a direct bus to McLeod Ganj saying goodbye to our city lives.

Our home-stay is located in Dharamkot, a picturesque hill town which is just a 10 min cab ride away from us with spectacular views of the entire valley. After breakfast at McLeod Ganj, we head to H. H. Dalai Lama Temple, Namgyal Monastery, and the Tibet Museum. We will also visit the St. Johns in the Wilderness Church and then sample some local cuisine for dinner.

Day 3: A good nights rest and a heavy breakfast later, we will head to Naddi, a tiny, peaceful village nestled amongst the pine-covered mountains and vibrant yellow mustard fields. We'll begin our first hike toward the pristine Naddi River where well spend our day lazing next to the river and exploring the valley. At night well camp in tents facing the majestic snow-clad mountain range.

Day 5: After experiencing an unforgettable sunrise, well have breakfast and trek right up to the snow line. Be warned, we take our snowball fights very seriously. Small icy streams and glacial waterfalls are a common sight on this trail. Another night of camping, music and good food is what lies ahead of you this day.

Parvati Valley

The mountains have always been a great getaway for many travelers. But how often do you travel to the mountains, climb it, and sit in a natural hot water spring with a view of the glorious snow-capped Himalayas? How often do you live in a local village in the middle of the mountains, sipping on your tea while staring at the gigantic Himalayas through your window pane? We know your answer. This trip is gonna have it all. Don't think twice and pack those bags. We're going to the hills.

Location: Parvati Valley, Himachal Pradesh (Kalga, Pulga, Tosh Kasol, Chalal)

Trip Duration: 5 nights - 6 days

Tour starts and end 11th (Sat) - 16th (Thu) May

Highlights:

-Day hike to the forests of Kalga

-Visit Tosh & Chalal

-Camping by the Parvati river in Katagla

Itinerary:

Day 1: Our journey begins in the capital (We can guide you with travel assistance to Delhi & back). Assemble at the Kashmere Gate bus stop at 5:00 pm. We board our bus to Bhuntar. Goodbye traffic, goodbye families, and probably (hopefully), goodbye cellphone reception for a week.

Day 2: We will reach Bhuntar early next morning from where we shall commute to the picturesque Kalga, a hilltop village nestled in the arms of a range of snow-capped mountains. Settle into our homestay. We'll take the rest of the day to explore the beautiful woodside hamlet.

Day 3: We are going to explore Tosh, a beautiful rustic village with a vantage point of the valley. We spend the day eating in the cafes here and taking a long walk to a waterfall. We return to our homestay in Kalga for dinner.

Day 4: After breakfast, we say buh-bye to Kalga and head to the bustle of Kasol by afternoon. Check into our swiss army tents on the banks of the Parvati river. After a quick lunch, we make our way to Kasol. In Kasol everything can be explored on foot. Chalal; a small village across the river and Manikaran; yet another hot spring (say whaaat!) in a gurudwara are the nearby attractions. Kasol is also a great place for getting a tattoo and yoga classes. The Parvati river runs right across Kasol. If you have the patience, we can go down to the river and skip some stones. Well find a nice cafe and have dinner together.

Day 5: This is our last day in Himachal. You will have the day at leisure. Go shopping for those jholas, harem pants, and jewelry that you've always wanted to buy from Himachal. We board our bus for Bhuntar in the evening. Take an overnight bus back to New Delhi. Make the most of this night since we might not be seeing each other again. (aww damn!)
